CAT 2015: All you need to know about

CAT Exam 2015

The Common Admission Test or CAT for the academic year 2015-16 is expected to be held in November this year and will be conducted by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) for which the official notification will be rolled out on July 26th. An application fee of Rs 1,600 and Rs 800 needs to be paid by the general and SC/ST candidates for the registration process. The candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in the written test, group discussion and interview. The candidates must have acquired a Bachelor’s degree in the related field from a recognised institute.

Tentative Dates:

  • Commencement of application procedure: August
  • Download of admit cards: October
  • Date of examination: November
  • Announcement of Results: Third week of December 2015

Test Pattern:

  • Test will comprise of 100 MCQs.
  • The Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation section will be for 50 marks and the Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning section will also be for 50 marks
  • The candidates will be awarded three points for each correct answer
  • The test carries negative marking, hence, one mark will be deducted for each wrong answer
  • There will be no penalty for questions which are left unanswered
  • The candidates can attempt any section first, and can also attempt the questions as per their choice of order
  • There will be an on-screen timer to notify the remaining time during the test
