The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A) has scheduled the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2015 to be conducted on November 29.
The Common Admission Test (CAT) is a computer-based test which evaluates the knowledge of a student on the basis of his/her skills in English, Mathematics and Logical Reasoning. It is one of the most reputed competitive entrance exam conducted in India for the Masters in Business Administration (MBA) programme. Around 2 lakh candidates appear for this competitive exam. Each year, it is conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management for the admissions in 21 IIMs and around 100 B-schools all across the country.
So that the aspirants of CAT 2015 exam can evaluate their preparation and get a better idea regarding the paper pattern, IIM Ahmedabad will be releasing a sample test on the official website, i.e., iimcat.ac.in. It is expected to release on October 31. The sample test will determine the exact changed pattern and the level of difficulty of CAT 2015. The examination will take place in around 136 cities across the country.
There will be some changes in the format of the CAT Exam, this year.
Since 2009, the test has been conducted on multiple days for over two sessions, but then, when it became computerised, it will now be conducted in many sessions in a single day.
Tathagata Bandopadhyay, CAT 2015 Convenor, said, “Some questions in each section may not be of multiple choice type. Instead, direct answers are to be typed on the screen.” Adding on he said that the changes could provide an “even field to candidates coming from different streams.”
There have been a large number of registrations for CAT in last 5 years. According to the reports, male candidates accounted to 149,408; female candidates were 69,176 and there were also 80 transgender.
This year, high level of difficulty is expected in the exam. The result of the CAT Exam will be declared in the month of January.
