India joins SAARC area in the course of education

Now, India becomes an educational hub for students from the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries comprising Afghanistan and Nepal. In New Delhi, The South Asian University is providing scholarship programmes to the South Asian countries in a variety of disciplines.

The university provides post-graduate and doctoral programmes in several disciplines such as international relations, law, sociology, mathematics, biotechnology, computer science and economics.

Among 437 students from the SAARC countries, 30 came from Afghanistan and 27 from Nepal. The South Asian University was established in 2010 with an idea to promote harmony, security and peace in the SAARC region.

South Asian University president Kavita A. Sharma who was working with the Delhi University earlier stated that special provisions have been made for the students from Bhutan and Nepal.

India provides education to Afghan students, supports in building up schools and the development of medical education in Afghanistan actively. The South Asian University grants silver jubilee scholarship to Nepalese students.
