Among the top 100 highest performers throughout the world, Indian Institutions have managed to gain 2nd position in contribution to high-quality scientific research. Indian institutes include council for Scientific Research (CSIR), Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Tata institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and Indian Institutes of Technology IITs).
. According to the Nature Index 2016 Rising stars report, China ranked on first position in contribution to high-quality research outputs. According to this report, 40 of the top 100 performers are from China with 24 of those showing growth above 50 per cent since 2012.
There are nine institutes’ features from the UK, eight from Germany and five from India. Reports like this show the real picture of contribution and also proving that India is doing remarkable work and on the pace of progress.
As per the report, More than half (51%) of India scientific contributions to the Index in 2015 has made up by Chemistry, Physics made up to 36 per cent, life sciences made up to 9 per cent and four per cent by environment sciences.
