Around 13 lakhs students appear in JEE exams every year. Only top 150000 candidates (including all categories) out of the qualifying candidates in Paper- 1 off JEE (Main)- 2015 will eligible to appear for JEE (Advanced)- 2015.
Distribution of qualifying candidates category wise are as follows.
Top 50.5%- Common merit list, 27% from OBC, 15% from SC, 7.5 % from ST and 3% of the total candidates are reserved for PD candidates. It is to be noted that PwD category includes Dyslexic candidates also.
Candidates who cleared JEE (Advanced) exam will be competing for seats in prestigious Engineering colleges, IITs, ISM.
Candidates who did not qualify this exam need not to worry. They can also acquire seats in NITs, IIITs and other prestigious engineering colleges. Seats of these colleges are firstly given to the candidates who have All India Rank of less than 40000-41000. There is another option also for the students who fail to qualify JEE advanced. They can give another engineering entrance exam or they may drop a year to appear in the next attempt of JEE Advanced. A candidate can attempt JEE (Advanced) a maximum of two times and that too in consecutive years.
