The last date of registration for the Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering (GATE) 2016 is October 8th. The candidates can get the details regarding the exam on the official website.
Every year, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) conducts GATE exam. There are 7 Indian Institute of Technology (IITs at Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Roorkee, Kanpur, Kharagpur and Madras) who jointly administrate the GATE exam.
Only the candidates holding either of the following degree/certificate are eligible for GATE exam.
- B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Pharm.
- B.Sc. (Research) / B.S.
- M.Sc. / M.A. / M.C.A. or equivalent.
- Int. M.E. / M.Tech (Post B.Sc.)
- Int. M.Sc. / Int. B.S. – M.S.
- Int. M.E. / M.Tech. or Dual Degree (after Diploma or 10 + 2)
- Professional Society Examinations (equivalent to B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Arch.)
The candidates, who are eligible for the exam, can apply through the official website. It is filled online only therefore, candidates must not send any hard copy of their application form and any other documents to IISc or any of the IIT’s zonal GATE office.
The GATE 2016 Hall Ticket / Admit Card download option will be there from December 17th, 2015 and GATE exam 2016 will be held from January 30, 31 to February 6, 7. The results will be declared on March 19th, 2016.
In GATE 2016, a new paper named ‘Petroleum Engineering (PE) has been introduced. Including this new paper, the total number of paper is 23. Post-exam, the candidates can obtain the answer keys from the official website. In case of any mistake or discrepancy in the key, candidates can challenge the key. Every answer key can be challenged.
Candidates can only access the online virtual calculator for calculation during the exam. No other calculators will be allowed in the examination hall. Before the exam, the online virtual calculator will be available on the official website for the students to practice.
