education news

The state government of Maharashtra may bring back the Common Entrance Test (CET) for the admission into various engineering courses from 2016.

The state will withdraw from the (JEE main) Joint Entrance Exam system, which is conducted by the centre to grant admission into the state engineering colleges. On the place of JEE, government is about to re introduce CET system.

As the JEE Main 2015 is already over, so there is not changes for CET exam this year. This may implement from next year i.e. 2016 as an entrance exam for engineering courses in the state.

Re-introduction of CET will boon around 1 lakh candidates who wish to do engineering courses. This will reduce the burden level on students. To appear in JEE exam, students have to prepare from class 11th and 12th. JEE commenced just after the 2 week of 12th class board exams. Students do not get enough time to prepare and study. Moreover, because of this they need to take coaching classes which costs much money as fee. Students left with no other choice. So CET system will surely bring relief to the students

It is also announced that CET for medical college admissions will be based on state board syllabus.

CET syllabus:

There would be four papers in the CET. While Physics and Chemistry papers would be common and compulsory for admission in both set of professional courses, there would be an option for Mathematics and Biology papers. Engineering aspirants would have to take Mathematics paper and medical aspirants-Biology.

Parents, students and teachers have been seeking for a long for comeback of CET. JEE syllabus was too tough as compared to CET. It is also announced that after CET implementation, selection would be done on the basis of 12th class result and CET score. It will give 50 % weight age to 12th class marks and 50% to CET score.
