CBSE conducted the annual engineering entrance examination on May 24 with about 1.5 lakh students registering and 1.25 lakh of them appearing for it. The Optical Response Sheet (ORS) of IIT JEE (Advanced) was released on June 3 wherein candidates can view their response sheets starting 10 am on June 3 up to 5 pm on June 6. The students had to mark their answers on the machine-readable Optical Response Sheet (ORS). If candidates feel that there has been any discrepancy during this 4 day schedule, they can request a review of their scanned responses and inform the authorities about it.
The exam conducted in two parts with Paper I being held from 9 am to 12 pm and the Paper II from 2 to 5 pm saw a changed pattern with students complaining of excessive negative marking. Earlier both the papers carried 180 marks each, no notice was given about the increased weightage to both papers, Paper I with 262 questions and paper II carried 240 questions. The students were shocked to know that every incorrect response would make them lose 2 marks unlike the earlier 1 mark. They complained of Physics and Maths section being very time consuming. They were eagerly waiting for the answer keys, which is scheduled to be displayed on June 8 at 12 pm.
This year, approximately 13 lakh students appeared for the JEE (Main) examination. The students who pass JEE (Main) are eligible for admission into NITs, CFTIs, SFTIs and IIITs, for the session of 2015.
