Finally, Central Board Secondary Education (CBSE) has approved the long awaited proposal of restoring the class 10the board exams. On Tuesday, CBSE highest governing body unanimously approved a proposal of class 10th board examination. As per the report, class 10th board examination will return 2018. These exams are returning approx after the gap of seven years.
It is also announced during the meeting that the 80 per cent of weightage will be given to the marks scored in the examination and 20 per cent will be given to the school based evaluation. Along with this, it is also decided in the meeting that the three language formulae will be extended to classes 9th and 10th. The languages which are listed in Schedule VIII of the Constitution should be taught under three language formulae. Foreign languages will be considered as fourth language as an elective subject.
Highlights of meeting:
- Meeting was held on Tuesday, 20th December 2016. In the meeting Governing body with its member approved that wef 2017-18, compulsory board exams should be introduced for all students of class 10th.
- Decision is still pending for approval by the government.
At present, it is optional for students to choose either from board exam or school based examination in all the affiliated schools.
