Staff Selection commission of India conducts SSC CGL exam for various B grades as well as C grade level posts. Tier one comprises of 4 sections i.e. reasoning, quantitative Aptitude, general English and general Awareness.

Reasoning: It is based on observing the mental and problem solving ability. It is not about the problems where we can apply any formula and get the answer. We need to figure out the answer carefully by applying our skills. The most important questions from this section are on the topics such as Seating Arrangements, Syllogism, Coding-Decoding, Statement and Conclusions, Directions, Blood Relations, Analogy, Classification, Series problems, Ranking, Data sufficiency, Assumptions and Directions. Non-Verbal is the toughest of all. Also, deals with maximum number of problems especially with problem figures and mirror images.

Quantitative Aptitude:This section is based on mathematics. If are having good grip on the basic concepts of math then we can easily score well in this section. Main topics cover in this section are Algebra, trigonometry, geometry, height & distances, numeric ability, percentage, profit and loss, SI & CI, ration & partnerships, averages and problem on trains and boat.

General English: English is the most scoring section in every competitive exam. Though it is also most ignoring subject by which candidate fails to score well. Moreover, this section is for the exam tier 1 and tier 2 for SSC exam. Important topics for this section are: English comprehension, cloze-test, synonyms, antonyms, one word substitutions, idioms and phrases, error finding, sentence improvement. Basically this section is based on grammar. Candidate must be having good grip over grammar.

General Awareness: This section is the difficult among all. All we need to get updates from current affairs to score decent in this section. Candidate is suggested to read newspaper and magazine daily. This is the most effective way to get updated from current affairs. Important topics in this section are: polity, economics, Science, geography, history.

Candidate is suggested to not to ignore any section. Each and every section is equally important. Moreover, candidate need to do mock test papers, samples papers to prepare well.
