CBSE Class 8th – 10th to get Artificial Intelligence Courses


The development of education sector is going on at a sky high rate right now. To add to that, the new courses being introduced are helping students explore the world and find their calling. This being done has brought education into a new era of development. The modern methods being applied give an upper edge to the future generation.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Courses CBSE – The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has introduced the concept of Artificial Intelligence as a course for classes 8th, 9th, and 10th. The board’s governing body had held a meeting in which this topic was raised and discussed.  It was decided that the topic would be introduced as a skill subject. This means that it will be added to the subjects on the vocational side as an optional.

The NITI Aayog is to be credited for the steps taken in this direction, as it was in one of its session that the topic of AI as a course subject was introduced.

What is AI?

AI (artificial intelligence) is the simulation of human intelligence processes by machines, especially computer systems. The definition put simply, machines acting like humans and being able to process information and making decisions like us, is Artificial Intelligence.

Why AI as a subject?

The CBSE is on a roll by introducing up to date topics in its books and introducing new subjects and courses. Artificial Intelligence is the new In-Thing of this generation and has created a buzz around itself for being the future of almost every commercial project or business. With Healthcare, Agriculture and Education being revolutionised by AI, it was a given that sooner or later it will be included as a course for students to learn and explore.

With more than 20,000 schools under its belt, the CBSE introducing AI as a subject is a monumental step affecting millions of students. These students if they wish would be able to learn about the new dawn on technology and successfully integrate their lives with the upcoming opportunities.

Other Applications of AI – a Task Force on Artificial Intelligence (AI), constituted on 24th August 2017 recommended an Inter-Ministerial National Artificial Intelligence Mission. This was done to have a nodal agency for coordinating AI related activities in India.

Also, other AI uses are universal and anyplace where Human Intelligence was used can be a prospect for Artificial Intelligence.

Other CBSE Notifications – The CBSE has decided to use two sets of question papers for maths for class 10 students, the two being separated as easy and standard. This is done to test the ability of class 10 students in mathematics from the next academic session. The students would also have an option to switch from one paper to another.
