Government may introduce reservation for teaching positions in IIMs

Every day government is implementing some new plans, rules or norms just to improve the education system and to promote education.

Currently, Government is planning to introduce reservation in the teaching positions at Indian Institute of management (IIMs). For this, Chiefs and directors of IIMs will meet at IIM Shillong on September 20, 2016. This meeting is called by HRD Minister, Prakash Javadekar.

At present, there is no reservation for SCs, STs and OBCs teaching faculty at IIMs. There is reservation system for teaching faculty at Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) and National Institute of Technology (NITs) which was set up by the central government. This system is reviewing by the HRD Minster, Mr Javadekar, in lieu to introduce at Indian Institute of Management (IIMs).

Also for implementing this, HRD Minister, Javadekar, took reviews with the faculty members and students of IIMs.

Moreover, there is a proposal for a bill in which IIMs will provide more autonomy in their governance and allow them to offer a degree course. This could not be implementing now because of their status as a society. This will amend existing laws like they did for IITs and NITs to allow them to offer degree courses.

At present, government is working a lot to improve education system in India and also trying to make it accessible to all.
