But as much as the aspirants want to crack these exams, the success rate to do so is quite discouraging. Nearly 500,000 applicants apply for CSAT exam every year with a success rate of o.3 %. And going by the statistics, hard work and consistency become the matters of utmost significance. CSAT is a nationwide competitive examination in India conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission). Those selected get recruited for different posts of civil services of the government of India like Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Revenue Service (IRS) among others. The entire examination is conducted in a 3-Part process-Preliminary, Examination and Interview. Only upon clearing Preliminary exams, one becomes eligible to sit in mains which comprises of written examination and interview.
The preliminary exam, better known as CSAT must be cleared by the candidate in order to reach the Mains which comprises of written examination and Interview. CSAT consists of analytical questions which focus on understanding and reasoning based questions rather than the ones which involve memorizing.
The candidates selected in CSAT further prepare for Mains and the Interview part. In prelims, CSAT comprises of two papers of 200 marks each and both are compulsory. The questions asked will be objective and of multiple choice. Upon clearing prelims, applicants go through the Mains (including written examination and personal interview), which is comparatively more challenging than the previous one. The written examination comprises of nine papers, out of which two are qualifying and seven are ranking in nature.  Candidates who pass qualifying papers are ranked according to marks and only a selected number of candidates are called for interview.
The numbers of attempts in which a candidate can give the exam are limited. Thus, the success mantra to score in the first attempt is hard work and consistency.
