Rama Devi Women’s Autonomous College (RDWAC) is all set to become the Orissa State’s first Women’s University and is situated in the capital city Bhubaneswar of Orissa. This will be the second university in the country this is dedicated to the females completely.
The Project Approval Committee (PAC) functions under Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) cleared the proposal which as submitted by the State Government. Union Secretary of Higher Education Satyanarayan Mohanty is the head of this committe. The proposal gets nod under the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) in which approximately 200 universities are planned to set up in the country.
RUSA is a central backed plan which was started in 2013 with an intention to provide funds to eligible State Higher Education Institutions so that they may make developments in the education system at different states. The State Government so fare got over 126 crore under RUSA in which 25 crore were distributed for the development of RD Women’s College as a Women’s university. This move will promote females to get higher education in the state itself and they will not need to migrate to other states to get higher education.
