The examination conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) might be made online if the recommendation of the expert group, established to reconsider the SSC examination system, is acknowledged.
The expert group was constituted on February 13 this year by the department of personnel and training (DoPT) with I M G Khan as the chairman. I M G Khan made several recommendations including making it online for the development in the current SSC examination structure.
The working group on national screening test & technology suggested that online exam be introduced devoid of additional impediment with compulsory online registration and web and mobile app-based application system. The group called for the assessment of infrastructure and the use of private agencies, engineering colleges, universities to establish the infrastructure for physical exam. It is also recommended that SSC/government exercise control over examination technology environment like workstations, servers and data centres to prohibit irregularities
Obligatory negative marking has been suggested in the marking system besides the normalization of score. Uploading of marks, answer keys, scanned answer papers, question papers, result is also recommended to ensure transparency. The use of digital height-weight-chest measurement with webcam display, CCTV recording of events and online validation of data and inclusion of biometrics at every stage are also suggested to enhance transparency in employment.
